Perception is everything, isn't it.

When you look at this picture, do you see weeds or
flowers?

What if I told you a very sweet three year old boy went out in his yard and picked these especially for his grandma?

Perception is everything, isn't it.

I'll admit, when I look at my yard and see these yellow flowers peppered throughout the grass, it doesn't make me happy. They are a weed by all standards. Unless of course, one does not know that standard.

Imagine if you will, not being familiar with dandelions popping up in unwanted places. You see a yard of green and yellow for the first time and you think its
b e a u t i f u l.

Until someone tells you they are not a welcomed flower here in Washington.

4 Tips to Find Balance in Running a Business and a Family

Please stop by her wonderful blog and leave a comment.

4 Tips to find balance in running a business and a family

"Although we no longer have children living in our home, the memory of having three children, a husband, and building a business doesn't seem like it was that long ago.

When Charlotte asked me to write for the blog, I was eager to say yes, because having “been there and done that,” I knew this was an opportunity to look back and ask myself what I would have done differently during that time. I also knew this was a great opportunity to look at the things I did right.... "

The GREATEST thing that comes from filling your own cup

is what you GIVE when the cup overflows.

Imagine with me if you will.....

An empty tea pot.

Beautiful cups waiting to be filled.

Now pour your pot and what do you give....emptiness, air, nothing that will benefit your guest.

This is how so many of us live our lives and run our business. We attempt to give without first filling our pot.

Now imagine that tea pot is full. So full it's overflowing.

This is how we give with substance and matter.
My cup runneth over.

How then do we go about filling our pot so it may overflow?

1. Give to yourself.

Woa..you may be saying. That's selfish. NO, it is selfish to not give to yourself first.

By giving yourself love, grace, gratitude for who you are, gratitude for your wealth, your health, time to nurture your body and your soul, you are filling your pot with pure gold. As your pot begins to overflow you won't be able to help but give. And what you do give will have substance. Be authentic. From the heart and soul of who you are.

2. Receive from others.

This tends to be a hard one for many people and is so important. All too often we deflect someone's overflow.

When someone compliments you, do you receive it with a thank you or do you deflect it? When someone offers to do something for you, do you feel you owe them something in return? And how about from yourself, do you find yourself saying, "Damn I'm good at that"?

3. Give without any benefit to you.

When our cup runneth over, we give without any strings attached, not to get something in return. Shoot, when our cups runneth over giving happens so naturally that we often don't even realize we are giving.

4. Give what you would like to receive.

If you'd like to have more love in your life, give out more love. If you'd like more peace in your life, give yourself quiet time for peace. If you'd like more laughter and dancing in your life, begin laughing and dancing.

Watch and see...

Become aware.... If you've started laughing and dancing more you'll probably find more people laughing and dancing around you.

There is a saying that if you give you shall receive. In the business world it's even coined as givers gain. Yes, these are true statements if used in the right context. Before you can give you must have something of substance to give. If not, you're just full of hot air.

As we dive deep into a season of giving, let us be of substance. Create and be from our hearts and from love. First for ourselves and then overflowing to others.

Today I received a gift from a family member who recently went through a major surgery. Here it is the holiday season and she can't talk, she's in a great amount of discomfort and pain, and she has a large amount of bruising and swelling. Within the text of her update from the doctor she ended with "remember I am a winner".

Please always remember, you too are a winner.

with love,
Sue

Ever feel lonely or blue? Fear or Uncertainty? You're not alone.

As a Self Development Coach I work with clients and students on exposing and engaging with their inner core. Who they truly are.

That can sound funny to some. What do you mean, "who they truly are?"

So many people are living as a drone. Living the way they should live. Being who they should be. Acting the way they should act. So much so, they don't even realize they are doing it.

The purpose behind the work I do isn't to show them what they are doing wrong. Isn't to show them what would make them happy or happier. My purpose is to walk beside them as they stand in their own personal power. That's huge! Why huge? Because when you begin to really connect with your inner core, you truly begin to live your life. Love yourself as you would your neighbor. Treat yourself as you would treat your best friend.....Your world opens up.

Some are hesitant to this idea of what we'll call here, self-care. They see it as selfish. I beg to differ. I believe from my own experience and the experience of my students, clients and teachers that it's actually selfish to not treat yourself with care.

Self-care is a topic in the Live Your Purpose Program and this week we are looking at those times when we feel lonely or blue. Those times when doubt and fear creep in.

Yes, they happen to all of us. Through the program and teachings we know that what we focus on grows so what do we do when these feelings come up?

Ask yourself, "what can I do right now that would take care of me?" "How can I pamper myself a bit?"

Remember a time that brought you joy.

Smile. The physical activity of smiling can change your attitude and those around you too.

Remember an email you've received that was kind. I recommend that my clients have a 'when in doubt' journal. Each time they receive a card, nice email or unsolicited compliment from someone they: print, write or tape it in their journal.

Here are a few other things my clients do:

Stopping for a ten minute break and a cup of tea.

Take a walk outside with no agenda and just be.

Call a friend and tell them what you appreciate about them.

Make a list of things you can do to take care of you in those times of doubt or fear. Make it your go to place when those feelings arise. You'll be pretty happy you did.

One of my favorites is to:
Stop -
Breathe -
Stretch -
Smile

All to often we try to deny these feelings. Hide them or go, go, go to avoid them. All that does is make them stronger and often buries them deep. They will fester sooner or later. Might as well feel them now.

Lean into those feelings with your body and stay out of your head.

A little self-care goes a long way.
How will you care for yourself today?

Four Ways to Increase Your Energy

In the Live Your Purpose Program we spend an entire module on increasing your energy. This is a transforming module with big a-ha's and mounds of increased energy by those who put the following practices into action. And with the beautiful fall colors surrounding us here in Washington, a gentle tug that the holidays are just around the corner is being felt, which makes this a  perfect time to share four ways to increase your energy.

Lets look at how Debbie uses the tools for the holiday season.

  1. - Clarity.

Clarity uses your creativity. Now that's exciting! Creativity puts you in a position of being pro-active vs re-active.

Debbie takes a half hour of her day and looks at the next three months. In this case the holiday season. She asks herself the following questions:

During these next three months -

What's important to me?

How do I want to show up?

How do I want to feel?

What would I like to experience?

Come the end of December what would be the very best outcome?

Mind you, Debbie doesn't just run through these questions in her mind. She takes the time to sit with them and allow the answers to truly resonate with her. She writes them down which helps her to remember them and stay focused on what's important. Debbie also knows that writing down her goals and setting an intention has been proven to increase the benefits and outcome.

   2. Saying No and Setting Boundaries:

Debbie now knows what she can say yes to and gives herself permission to say no to the activities and events that are not in line with her clarity. This will save Debbie tons of physical as well as mental energy. By putting boundaries around her family, business/work and time, Debbie will give her full attention to the activities she is engaged in. This is not only an energy saver for Debbie but a gift to those who she is engaged with because she is present and grounded in who she is and what she has to offer. It's like offering someone a half of an ice cream cone vs a full cone. She's a full cone kinda girl.

  3. Conquering Clutter:

This includes physical clutter as well as mental clutter. Knowing that digging in deep and spending the next week, 12 hours a day clearing physical clutter isn't in her best interest for increased energy, each day Debbie removes a bag or box of clutter from her surroundings. Because of her clarity she can ask herself the question, "does this/these item(s) support my energy for this holiday season. Is this item or items something I will use within this period of time or am I holding onto them for someday?" If the answer is someday, Debbie decides to give the items to someone or a charity that can use them now.

As for the mental clutter, Debbie begins really listening to what she is saying to herself as well as to others. She eliminates words like, need -should - have to- as well as complaining. She begins to replace this language with empowering words like, I choose to -today I will -I am and instead of complaining, Debbie asks for help when needed and sets the intention to communicate clearly.

  4. Self-Care:

All too often this becomes the last thing people put into practice. When this happens it's like having an empty pitcher of water and offering your guest something to drink. There just isn't anything there to give.

Knowing how important this is to maintaining her energy, Debbie schedules time for self-care into her calendar in advance. She makes a commitment to honor herself and those she loves by following through with the appointments.

Debbie creates a list of things that bring her joy and implements at least one a week. By being pro-active in her planning, Debbie is more likely to do the things that increase her energy as opposed to mindless energy wasters.

Debbie has now set herself up for this wonderful holiday season ahead.

How about you? What's important to you during the holidays?

She often shows her pretty face just about the time...

When you meet with resistance in life, do you assume it's going to be a mucky road?

Growth period, I'd say yes. Mucky, the good news is no, not always!

She often shows up when:

you start a new project
you begin a new habit
begin to break an old habit
travel a new path along your journey

yet not always.

Resistance often shows her pretty face right about the time we are ready to move into the next chapter of our lives, our work, and/or our purpose.

As you are traveling along your journey, skipping down the road, resistance pops in
with a happy, hello!

You may hear her whisper something in the likes of:

"ah, and you thought you were going to breeze right through this."
"Oh no, this isn't the right way to go, this is just too hard."
"Who do you think you are?"
"What were you thinking?"

She's a great camouflage artist and shows up in many different forms.

When you meet her, resistance.
When resistance is at her finest.
Almost 100% of the time it's because you are right on the edge of something...
big
a break through
or a break out.

Engage with her.

Lean in and ask her what she has to teach you today.

Stand up tall and look that ole' gal right in the face and say...

Bring It On!
Let's Dance!

When was the last time you met with resistance?
Did you dance?

Are You Holding Back on Your Creativity?

Creativity lives and breathes in each of us. Many of us express our creativity through art: painting, writing, drawing, etc. If you are feeling stuck in your creative journey, ask yourself if any of the following three things are what is keeping you stuck.. If you're flying high and creating like a superstar, go, go, go!

Comparison: this often shows up in the form of searching the internet. Looking at all that amazing talent out there, and then comparing yourself with that talent. This will stop your creative flow right in it's tracks. Stop looking at what others are doing and start listening to yourself. Trust your own creativity. And if you are telling yourself you are "getting inspired," ask yourself if this is really true. Use the time you spend surfing for inspiration to feed your own creativity with a nap, going to bed early, spending time with family, a walk outdoors, one of things on your "I wish I did" list.

Perfectionism: Do it and do it imperfectly. This is the best way to learn to do it better. Move forward and honor your creativity. If a Mother gave her child an ice cream cone and the child didn't want it because the cone was bent or the scoop not round enough, would that mother be excited to give the child another ice cream cone the next time they were at the ice cream shop? Probably not. Let's say the child got really excited about that ice cream cone, imperfections and all. The next time Mom and Child passed the ice cream shop I bet Mom would be thrilled to buy her child another cone. In other words, if you're always disappointed in our art, writing, in your creativity because it's not perfect, why would your creativity want to come out to play?

Doing what 'should' be done: There are SO many "shoulds". I have a friend who has a sign above her kitchen sink that says "though shall not should themselves". I have to agree. When you're growing up, you go to school, you get married. After you get married, you have children. Somewhere in there you buy a house. These are often categorized as 'normal'. To hell with normal. You are not normal and thank you for that. You are an amazing original. You are a creative being. When your creativity wants to play outside the box, do it. Engage in the power of play.

Speaking of Creativity and the Power of Play, how does your creativity live and breathe?

Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life

Create a Vision for Your Life
and get off the go with the flow
Merry Go Round.

This week’s tip is to have a vision,

and have that vision encompass not only your business

but your family and your “me time.”

Too many times I see people set goals for their business

and they don't include the rest of their life.

It's really important to look at that as a whole package.

Going with the flow instead of having a clear vision can take a lot out of a well minded Go-Getter.

Have a Vision for your life and let it be your guide to Eliminate Overwhelm and Stress.

Being Successful begins with You

Be Joyfully You

I clearly remember the day I heard, just be you. Thing is, I didn't know who that was. I didn't really know me.

When you connect with your core and tap into the true you..You begin to Soar. Your true self emerges and so does your creativity.

The greatest most fulfilling part of Being Joyfully You is the people who surround you. The amount of value you give is sincere, centered, and real. Your relationships become healthy and the love you receive radiates out into the world.

Who you were created to be becomes so evident you can't help but live it. The should's disappear.

Clarity in who you are and what moves you...is priceless.

What talents and gifts are you hiding inside? What is bursting to emerge as YOU?
