EncaustiCamp July 2011

When I pick something up outside, in the house, while out and about, I can see it evolve into something beautiful. I enjoy bringing these items together with paint, glue, or one of my favorite mediums, encaustic.

That's what happened when I was cooking breakfast one morning. The egg carton screamed at me...."Do something with me. Don't just throw me away". Once in the studio the fun began. I was working on an encaustic piece that wasn't going well. Out came the larger scraping tool. As I worked the wax off of the board it was fused to it started to curl. I see a flower here. I rolled the wax and created roses. After adding the egg carton, a carton of roses was created.

mixed media encaustic - 6"x18" on birch.

That's why I was thrilled when Trish asked me to be an assistant at EncaustiCamp. I believe this is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people with the same likes that I have. To create and play with a medium one may or may not be familiar with. The workshops offer  a great mix of ways to work with beeswax and encaustic medium. If I wasn’t going as an assistant to EncautiCamp, my biggest question  would be which workshops to take. They all have so much to offer.

I hope to see you there. Please find me and say hi. We'll talk wax!!

Coming within the week....Instructors Crystal Neubauer and Jan Harris
